A child who does not play is not a child, but the adult (man) who does not play has lost forever the child who lived in them (him).  Pablo Neruda-Chilean poet 1904–1973

My first commissioned piece I decided to call Journey because of the symbol of a spiral on the front. This piece was created in 2012 for an Indian Restaurant. Upon firing the piece the spiral medallion exploded off in the kiln. Instead of scrapping the piece I decided to re-fire the broken spiral pieces and mosaic them back on.

Once the medallion was attached back on the piece and grouted the vase took on a whole new appeal. The spiral has a 14k gold leaf which now made the spiral pop more than it did before – when life gives you explosions……grout the crap out of it and brush it with gold!
